Surrender

If you feel very light, clear, and deeply at peace, that is an unmistakable sign that you have truly surrendered.

Eckhart Tolle – The Power of Now Journal.

You have left the past and entered the now!

For me, the keyword is entered. Surrender is the key that unlocks the door. What did I find when the door opened? I saw a long road that appeared without any end in sight. But feeling light, clear, and deeply at peace must have been my first step onto this road without a destination.

As I began to walk this road, I did encounter obstacles. Steep hills that are tiring to climb. Poor conditions on certain sections of the road and difficult to walk along. Some parts of the road were missing altogether. I had to find ways to negotiate access. Particularly the jagged splits that appeared without warning.

I often sat down in despair – not knowing how to overcome these obstacles. My inner power – supercoach (My-God-Within-Me) raised my fallen spirits in these moments. Nonetheless, the going was tough.

So far, and this is fortunate, I have not lost my way. Even so, the going has been challenging. It is one thing not losing your way, but another thing to keep moving through and over hurdles. I had to depend on my faith to keep moving, believing in what I was doing. It meant believing in what I had learned through Eckhart Tolle and persevering with living what I had learned. I found believing was simpler than putting my faith into action.

Sometimes hurdles are events designed to bring about change in our lives. Change is something we must NEVER resist, when faced with change, we must surrender or lose an opportunity.

Some events in life do not produce hurdles; this is a time of rest for us. Others produce hurdles. If you are an athlete, you know hurdles are there for one to jump over without knocking the hurdles down. This process is both a training and a skill. Athletes train for faster speeds over the hurdles; skill results from surrendering to the training. It follows, then, treat life events like hurdles, jumping over them. Once you become skilled, you will find the going easier and rest periods more frequent. However, you must surrender to the training before you gain the skill.

Like any form of exercise (I am a daily exerciser), we can build muscle, become flexible, and possibly lose weight by disciplining ourselves into a daily regimen.

Considering all the above, I realized there is a reward for persevering – fruit being born in me, a sense that I was in the process of accomplishing my life long-goal, and this is: to live my life on a higher level.

What is a higher level? Living in love and harmony with all on this earth, both animate and inanimate, I enjoy a deep sense of peace when I reach this place – the road is smooth for a while. Why can I not see an end to the road? Because it is the road of a journey, the road of eternity. It has no destination; peace is now, not tomorrow!
