Eliminate Pain and Sorrow

Well – in some small way I can say I have lived long, but not enough – I’m heading for 120 years – How about you? The most wonderful aspect of my proposed journey is that I’m at the 81 year mark, healthy with a few aches and pains, but nothing life-threatening. I love my life – every minute of it including all my A&P’s

I live by Eckhart Tolle’s philosophy and revel in maintaining my copy of ‘The Power of Now Journal.’

I recall the words that my mother spoke out often, “These things were sent to try us.’ Years after her passing, when I heard that saying, my response to the statement was – ‘Why?’ While I am able to answer my own question nowadays, this is neither the time nor the platform to do so.

But as it is the time and space to comment on ET’s statement, let’s do that.

The Universe operates without any spiritual or human control. It has been designed by a master creator (and all of us have the choice to decide just who this master creator happens to be.) Whoever it is, the universe operates according to a pre-set program. In a miniscule sense, like airplanes’ on autopilot.

Nothing we humans’ do can change the way the universe operates. On the earthly part of this universal operation there are laws like gravity – what goes up must come down for instance. Our human lives are no different. We need to eat, drink and look after our bodies or they become ill and die.

If we sow seeds and nurture them, they grow and produce fruit. If I continuously waste money I will become poor. If I dive off a cliff onto rocks below I will kill myself and the list goes on. Through much of life what comes into our lives is brought into them by our own doing. In this case it is wise then for each of us to think, do and say with care for what the outcome might be.

Then there are events that enter our lives that are caused by others or supernatural forces and these are beyond our control. In situations like these I have a personal rule, it goes like this:

If I am troubled by any event that enters my life, I ask myself if I am in a position to change this event, if the answer is ‘yes’ then I act accordingly. If the answer is ‘no’ then I thank God for the wisdom given me in making the correct decision and I accept my situation.

Since I learned to always apply this rule, to my life, pain and sorrow has lessened and I have peace.
