“Presence is pure consciousness – consciousness that has been reclaimed from the mind, from the world of form.”
Eckhardt Tolle: The Power of Now Journal
April 27. 2024.
Ever since I can remember, I have not been present in my mind – that is, most of the time. My mind is a fierce wanderer. I enjoy daydreaming. Even now, as I write these words, I have to work at focusing on what I’m writing and not allowing myself to daydream. Thing is, I love daydreaming.
I have always accepted my daydreaming behavior as ‘normal.’ But since I discovered Eckhart Tolle’s philosophy, I realize the expression ‘normal’ for me is relative. In other words, normal for me might not be normal for someone else. But let me put it this way; ET’s philosophy showed me a better way to address this situation: how to manage my daydreaming. If presence is pure consciousness, I will be in harmony with what I am doing when I am present in my thinking. Then, I am intuitively retrieving my consciousness from the unconscious state of my daydreaming or unconscious mind. I return to focusing on the now and whatever activity I engage in. Simple really, I never block my daydreaming, I switch off daydreaming and focus on what I am doing.
As a writer, I feel there may be value in my daydreaming. In the sense that that state can contribute to the content of the stories I wish to write. So, in my unconscious state, everything is not lost as long as I can retrieve what I have experienced in my unconscious state, particularly in terms of later remembering the content I have experienced. I don’t always recall content from unconscious states, and my dreams are a fair example here; I have what I consider a whole active dream with a fair amount of detail, and when I wake up, poof, all the detail is gone!
The above aspect aside, I want to be present and in a pure consciousness to write the words I’m writing now.
The internet has much advice on the above matters, so I am careful about what I read; the source must be trustworthy. ET is, in my opinion, trustworthy. If I feel value in words I read, I apply these to my lifestyle. If the words I read do not offer value, I ignore them. I often think that each snowflake falling to the ground is different; humans born on this earth and those born in the future have and will have a different DNA. I find these facts both fascinating and exciting. I am different from all my fellow humans, so I will assess whatever comes my way by that standard.
Above all, I will continue to focus on presence each moment of every day because apart from being pure consciousness, it’s a powerfully productive force, the results of which are deeply gratifying to me.
.
Until our next meeting
Love and blessings
