Are You Polluting The World or Cleaning Up The Mess

Environment Protection

“You are responsible for your inner space; nobody else is, just as you are responsible for the planet.”

Eckhart Tolle – The Power of Now Journal

I see myself as having a purpose here on this earth. I think this is true for each one of us and all other life on earth, both animate and inanimate. I use the word ‘think’ because the ultimate purpose of everything on earth remains a mystery to me for the most part, but it’s no bother, as I take everything in my stride and enjoy it.

There have been, over time, many who have tried to explain this purpose. Among these have been prophets, religious folk, political leaders, and scientists. Who is right and who is wrong? I don’t know. I do know, as I pen these words, I have not come across any explanation that I can say I am able to prove.

Yes, I have my ideas of what my purpose could be, but I would never offer any ideas for the purposes of others. It makes complete sense, naturally, that I should keep my house in order first.

As an example, I should care for my body, soul, and spirit – with all diligence. I should care for my fellow humans in any way that I am able, whenever I can. Then wherever my feet tread, literally, I should care for the environment in the sense of doing whatever I am able, whenever I am able, to the benefit of our planet.

I am not trying to suggest this is my purpose, no. It is simply the sensible way to behave. I’m not touching on purpose here yet, just a way to keep my house in order first. (I will elaborate shortly.)

“As within, so without: If humans clear inner pollution, then they will also cease to create outer pollution.”

In order to accomplish the above. I need to have my inner space functioning correctly. The inner space, my mind, is the start of my responsibility. A responsibility that no one else can carry but me. If my mind is functioning correctly, it is free from any form of pollution. If my mind is free of pollution, I will, without any conscious thought, conduct my life on earth with love and respect to my fellow humans. I will also treat my environment in the same manner.

At this stage in my life, I am familiar with how I should behave toward myself, my fellow humans and last but not least, my environment.

Understanding what is required of my behavior is only the start, because all my behavior is controlled by the thoughts in my mind. What is the best way to go about controlling the thoughts in my mind? I refer to the process as ‘thought management.’ In the mid to late 1900’s a new thought author, James Allen said, “You are today where your thoughts have brought you, you will be tomorrow where your thoughts take you.”

My personal experience with managing my thoughts has been a long and not-so-easy journey. It has undoubtedly been a fruitful journey all the same.

In two weeks, I will post an article on ‘Thought Management.’ Watch this spot.

I will leave you with this thought:

“If we live with past events controlling our present, we are living a lie.

If we live in the future, with our present perception of where we would like to be – we are living in a world of fantasy.”
